We Have Changed Everything about our Worship Gatherings Except This

Time. It is a valuable commodity. It is to be steward wisely, especially in the time allotted to the worship gathering. It is also the one thing which hasn't changed much over the centuries -ONE hour. Some worship gatherings go longer but none shorter. It is time we think creatively about the hour. Let's start with the sermon.

The average length of a sermon is 40 minutes while the average sitcom is 30 minute with commercials (20 by itself). Why shorten the length? Attentiveness or attendance? It could result in both.

I can think of a lot of advantages for leaders, leadership, ownership, etc. for a congregation

For the leader alone there are some advantages:
*It would provide multiple "voices" in an hour and you would equip more "apprentices" in the discipline.
*Require you to be more precise and speak with passion.
*Help you start redefining your role from communicator to disciple maker.
*Allow more creativity within the designated time for worship.
*ETC.

What advantages do you see?

Think about it.
