Remedy Church (Josh Carter) - Bethany

If you reach the cities, you will reach the nations. The cities are where local strategy meets global transformation and we believe Portland, Oregon is a city with remarkable global implications.  Portland, Oregon is also one of the darkest corners of our country and is in great need of a Gospel movement.  In the midst of a great city, Remedy City Church is beginning a network of community-focused churches that work together for Portland and the World.  Our heart is to see the Kingdom expanded in Portland and the World and we believe that happens most effectively through making disciples, engaging society, and being a part of what God is doing through His church in this city and the world.  Our goal is seeing Remedy Churches planted all over the city of Portland.   Each Remedy Church will extend the Gospel in a specific community, as well as lock arms with other Remedy Churches around the city under “one-church” heading called Remedy City Church. The dream is "ONE CITY CHURCH.”  One city church, made up of a network of community-focused churches, abiding in Jesus, engaging society, and being released to be the church in every single community of this great city.   Our current work is seeing the birth of "Remedy Church | Bethany" on the Northwest side of the city.  Josh and Amy Carter have 2 children, Grayson (4) & Annabelle (1), and a third child on the way.  Josh served as a pastor in TN for over 10+ years as both a student pastor and a lead pastor over family ministry at Tri-Cities Baptist Church.  Josh and Amy also served as church planting residents at the great Hope Church in Las Vegas Nevada.  They are also joined by several families and individuals a part of their church planting team.

Spring of Life (Aaron Bennett) - Downtown District
Spring of Life is born out of a vision, rooted in John 4.  In this incredible passage, Jesus approaches a woman who’s drawing water from a well.  She’s not the type of person that you would expect the God-incarnate to be speaking to.  She has a reputation.  She is a bit of a misfit.  Jesus turns to her and begins a conversation that would change her life - and the lives of many others.  This is exactly what we have begun doing in the heart of downtown Portland.   The heart of Spring of Life is to reach artists and patrons of the arts and establishing a movement, where church is refreshing.  springoflifepdx.com
Aaron & Andrea met doing theater at Liberty University, had their first kiss onstage, and married after graduation.  Aaron has a Bachelor's Degree is Communications / PR and a Master's Degree in Evangelism and Church Planting.  Andrea graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology.  They welcomed their first daughter, Valentine Alise, in March 2014.  For the past six years Aaron & Andrea have served at Blackshear Place.  Aaron worked as a student pastor focusing on college ministry and middle school ministry.  Andrea served as the assimilation assistant, working to personally connect with every new member and guest of a 6,000+ member church.
The Bennett's are focused on planting in Directors Park, a cross-section of life, entertainment, and business.  Aaron and Andrea are being launched from Blackshear Place Baptist Church in Flowery Branch, GA.

Bridge City Church (Justin Martin) - NoPo
The St. Johns neighborhood of North Portland is located eight miles from the city center and is the most ethnically and economically diverse neighborhood in the city.  Strategically located in North Portland, St. Johns is a historic working class neighborhood that serves as the hub for the surrounding neighborhoods and the University of Portland.
It is the vision of Bridge City Church to see Jesus renew individuals, families, and neighborhoods in Portland and around the world as the church cultivates the gospel in the context of the believing community and moves out in a ministry of love, service, and proclamation.
Justin and Chandra Martin, along with their planting team, moved to Portland from Tuscaloosa, AL where they were sent out from Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Peace,
Justin

Kaleo

Paul & Kristen Hoffman

Kaleo is a family of believers calling Portland to experience the greatness of Jesus Christ, through Gospel action and Gospel proclamation. The vision for Kaleo is deeply rooted in the incarnational reality of our faith, that God came down from heaven, moved into the neighborhood, and taught us a new and better way to live our lives providing for us reconciliation with the Father. This is our task, becoming a part of the fabric of the city, introducing them to person of Jesus and proclaiming the restoration, reconciliation and liberty of the kingdom.

Roughly 70% of the population of Portland have no religious affiliation. It is a city with a great spiritual awareness (64 percent of the population are spiritual or religious), but with very little exposure to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Portland, a city of fugitives and refugee’s (as Chuck Palahniuk puts it), is a city full of people trying to find themselves. The potential for the kingdom is huge in the city, but there are few laborers. Portland is truly a city that embodies the “least of these” with its unique homeless population, and a city that is “ripe for the harvest” in its great sensitivity to spiritual things.

Paul and Kristen have two children, Addison and Wesley. We are Highly relational people, who desire to see the church manifest itself the same way. It is our dream for the church to be a picture of heaven here on earth, magnifying the glory of Jesus Christ among those who do not know him and seeing them become disciples who make disciples. Paul holds a Bachelor of Applied Theology from California Baptist University and a Master of Arts in Christian Education with a concentration in Church Planting from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Kristen holds a B.S. in Sports Management from East Tennessee State University and a Master of Arts in Christian Education with a concentration in Student Ministry from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
