"You've heard it said, BUT I tell you...."Jesus.
I love those words from Jesus. It reminds me, as a "religious leader," I sometimes get it wrong. The good news, Jesus can correct, if I allow him, my erroneous behaviors and thinking. BUT will I accept what Jesus tells me?
What if we have been forming disciples around elementary teachings and not more substantive practices? What if Jesus said to the people you shepherd, "you have heard it said, BUT I TELL YOU.....?"
Jesus sayings are the equivalent of the Old Testament prophet saying, "What does the Lord require of you.......BUT....." Then, he goes on to give us the - BUT....."to do JUSTLY, and to LOVE MERCY, and to WALK HUMBLY with our Lord." Is 1-out-of -3 acceptable for the BUT?
The pathway for spiritual formation includes all three BUTS. How could you begin shaping disciples around the following list of missional habits for the workplace?
