Four Spaces to Explore in Being the Gathered and Scattered Church

In Launching Missional Communities, the authors argue that one of the reasons MCs (Missional Communities) fail is because the core group is too small (15-20 people).

Mike Breen, Alex Absalom, and Doug Paul of 3D Ministries believe that we should cultivate four spaces:
1. Public (Sunday gathering, over 100 people)

2. Social space (MC, 20-50 people)

3. Personal space (Small Group & Huddle, 3-12 people)

4. Intimate space (DNA Group, 1-2 people)

They go on to say, "the main purpose of this book (LMC) is to look at social space... social space is very much the missing link in the church today."

The author's argue that the 20-50 size more easily enables resources and momentum than a smaller size (6-18). Mike Breen on several occasions say something to the effect, "Look, I've been doing this for 30 years and for much of that time I had it all wrong...."

What do you think? How are you intentionally living and creating space for MC's in these environments?
