It is important as a missionary people to know and understand the culture. This requires us to know the language and values of a culture. Too often in presenting the gospel we do so from the lingo of a churched culture instead of the language of the culture we desire to influence.
For practice, ask someone about their favorite movie. Listen for the values they express as they communicate what they liked about the movie. What did you learn? Then, look for the places the gospel intersects this story. You can do the same with music, YouTube, etc. This is what Paul did in Athens.
Study and learn the culture then shape the conversation of the gospel into the conversation.
