You Must Confront Clergy Burnout

Clergy burnout is serious. It was serious enough for me to pursue my Doctorate on self-care and Sabbath Rhythms.

What are you doing in the new year to care for yourself? Start simply. Practice the Sabbath weekly. I'd love to help you get started.

David Rose, a counseling professor at Fresno Pacific Biblical Seminary, says pastors can avoid burnout by taking better care of themselves. They need to exercise, eat healthy foods, get plenty of sleep and manage their time well. Rose says pastors should devote time to their spiritual growth, such as reading the Bible and studying daily devotionals -but their effort should be separated from their sermon preparation and ministry work. They also need to set priorities, knowing when to tell people yes or no.
