There are some things we have the privilege to do as followers of Christ. As the Church, we must also distinguish between those actions/activities which are merely OPTIONAL.
A Sunday night or a Wednesday night gathering is OPTIONAL. Potlucks should be an OPTION for the church but not mandated. You have OPTIONS on when and where to meet for a gathering. It is your OPTION to sing choruses or hymns. We have a lot of OPTIONS in the church and as followers of Jesus.
One thing is not OPTIONAL. Obeying Jesus loving command to make disciples. This is not OPTIONAL.
What in your day today is really OPTIONAL as a follower of Jesus? as His church? Let's reorient our lives and the rhythm of our Churches around making disciples of those who are not yet disciples.
How? Walk to the street behind your house and introduce yourself to your neighbor. In fact, bring them a small gift and apologize for not introducing yourself sooner.
It is not OPTIONAL to move people one step closer to knowing and following Jesus! It is an incredible gift given to us by JESUS. Enjoy the opportunity.
