Coaching Leaders

As I write this, I'm sitting in the Denver International airport returning home from a Coachnet training sponsored by NextLevel Leadership. Have you ever been coached? How was the experience? What did you learn? How do you coach others? What questions do you ask?

Here are 6 questions. Six Aha questions.....a tool to use in your relationships and possible next meeting with your leadership/family/etc. Remember, coaching isn't about solving someones problem. It is asking questions and listening to help them come to some conclusions to begin addressing the obstacles and challenges before them.

1. How are YOU?
2. What are you CELEBRATING? Where are you WINNING?
3. What CHALLENGES are you experiencing? Obstacles.
4. What do you plan to do about those challenges? Action steps.
5. How can I help you? Resources.
6. How can I pray for you?

Finally, I believe every leader/parent/follower of Jesus needs 4 persons:
1. A MENTOR - this person is farther along in the journey and can POUR into you.
2. A PEER - peer learning is powerful. We need friends who are on a similar journey. We need these peers to process with us along the way.
3. CONNECTORS - people who are relationally connected. Connectors help me find resources, opportunities, etc. to lead well and live well.
4. A COACH - a coach can PULL OUT of me the key issues, directions, and values as a leader. Coaches help me chart a course to discover an agenda and assist in this agenda becoming a reality.

Enjoy the journey!
